Former Defense Minister believes that UFO's hold vital information
Paul Hellyer, a former Canadian Defense Minister, believes that we should utilize some of the alien technologies gained from UFO crashes in order to fight global warming. He says that governments should 'come clean' with the information they have regarding UFO's gained in incidents such as the 1947 Roswell, NM crash. This information was originally published in the Ottawa Citizen. Mr Hellyer was the Canadian defense minister in 1963, he is currently 83 years old.
Space Love
George and Loretta Whitesides will be the first couple to honeymoon in space. They will be traveling aboard Virgin Galactic as one of the first 100 travelers because they are both founders. Here's their website with detailed information about their interesting careers.
DIY UFO's WTF?
Alfie Carrington, from Michigan, has built a flying machine in his garage (he hopes). The machine has a rotary engine that will stimulate two discs for a magnetic levitation system. Somehow those discs power propeller blades. It seems more like a cool hovercraft to me, but I don't know very much about things like this. Alfie hopes to get this thing off the ground in 8 months or so. Aeronautical engineers claim that the centrifugal force of the discs are more likely to tear the thing apart than create lift.
Multi-Touch Screens
Jeff Han's touch screen interface works by measuring the refraction of light caused by fingers touching the screen. This allows for several neat computer-human interactions. Namely, the screen is multi-touch, meaning that several fingers can touch the screen at the same time. Secondly, the screen allows for different reactions based on the amount of pressure applied to the screen. During Jeff Han's presentation to TED he also indicated that the screen could potentially register proximity of the hands to the screen.
Jeff Bezo's Space hopes dashed after crash
Jeff Bezos, that guy who owns Amazon, watched with teary eyes as his space craft 'Goddard' made a pitiful first run in the Texas desert. Achieving an altitude of only 90 meters. His space company, Blue Origin, is well behind his competitors in the commercial space race and he is likely to fail in his quest.
A good year for space programs
It was a good year for the Earth's space programs. So good, that I jumped on the bandwagon. This article contains a lot of great information about the highlights of space exploration in 2006.
- Here are a few of the big ones.
- Aceize is founded, 150 year business plan set in motion.
- Bigelow Aerospace launches their first inflatable module onboard a Russian SS-18 intercontinental ballistic missle
- Anousheh Ansari travels to space. The deal was brokers by Virginia Based 'Space Adventures'
- Several launch services promote international cooperation including; International Launch Services (a U.S.-Russian venture), and Europe’s Arianespace and United Launch Alliance.
Giant Tent made of 'sunlight absorbing' clear material
Who gave Kazakhstan all that money?
Kazakhstan is building a huge tent in their capital, Astana. The tent is supposed to trap in heat from the sun to keep the temperature inside some 60°F above the ambient outdoor temperature. One of the keys to this giant tent is a 'special material that abosorbs sunlight to creat the effect of summer inside.' I really want to find out more about this 'special material'. Not only is it transparent, but apparently it is very strong - or at least I assume that it is.
John C. Mather of NASA receives Nobel
I doubt that this really belongs on Aceize, but in the interest of cataloging those characters who are active in the exploration and colonization of space I will include it. John C Mather of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center won the Nobel prize for physics for 'evidence that helped seal the big-bang theory of the universe'.
I will state publicly that I think the big bang theory is ridiculous, despite all the mathematics and apparently experiential evidence to back up the claim. Logically it doesn't make any sense, and in fact it seems to me to be nothing more than an elaborate, slightly modified, 'earth-centric' idea. (I realize that the big bang theory doesn't define earth as the center of the universe, but the theory is completely based on data collected from the central location of earth and seems to assume that any data outside the range of collected data will have negligible effects upon future calculations).
Virgin Galactic's Space Ship Interior
Richard Branson steps into to the space travel fray
This article is a press release from the unveiling of the interior of Virgin Galactic's space ship. The space ship is designed for suborbital flights for 6 passengers.
Good Luck! Aceize will be following your exploits Sir Branson.

Anousheh Ansari backs investment in Space
After returning from her trip on the Russian Soyuz rocket, Anousheh Ansari said that the world needs more private space investment. Actually, she said that the government and private companies need to work together to 'make great leaps in space exploration'. I was with her up until that cooperation jazz. Now is hardly the political climate for such non-sense.
