NASA is getting old. 4% of NASA employees are under 30. 16% are under 40.
According to the MSNBC article, NASA is hoping to use social networking techniques to reach more of the youngsters. In other words they will be looking to reach the public audience via messages on facebook, myspace, twitter, etc. The push was started by a NASA employee named Nicholas Skytland.
An apparent offshoot of this push towards increased use of social networking is a more open NASA. More open, I presume, means an increased flow of information from the organization. I wonder if the flow of information to the agency will also improve.
Personally, I think NASA should listen to me. I run an online game. http://astrogators.com - the game is intended to promote current technology and increase interest in what NASA calls 'STEM' (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Unfortunately, my past letters to NASA never warranted any replies. I guess it's time to try and try again.
