British lap up ridiculous fear-mongering futurism

Critical Path Innovation: Popular Perception of Science, Robotics

The U.K. Office of Science and Innovation's Horizon Scanning Center released a report stating that in the future robots would start suing for their rights. They also claimed that robotic health care would be on the list of robot demands. This strikes me as ridiculous fear mongering and anti-technology dribble.

As soon as they become

As soon as they become sentient, why wouldn't the start demanding equal rights?

Now how far off are they from becoming sentient is the real question.

Who would make a sentient

Who would make a sentient robot that can or would demand to be given rights? If you want to build a sentient robot, you would probably program the robot to be able to take care of itself.
