ACEIZE Tracking the current state of Science and Technology

A bright orange spherical robot will explore the 1000 ft. deep sinkhole known as Zacaton in Mexico. The robot will be using sonar to map the underwater cavern, as well as navigate the environment.

Additional Info. The robot is an autonomous machine called DEPTHX (Deep Phreatic Thermal Explorer). It is 8ft long and has 56 sonar sensors. The project was funded by NASA. The software was written at Carnegie Mellon.
