American Elements announced today that they are able to make 6AL-4V titanium foil in industrial quantities. This type of titanium alloy has high strength and low stiffness that makes it useful for a variety of applications. Most notably, aircraft, when 6AL-4V titanium alloy current comprises 50% of an airplane. American Elements expects that their new foil making procedure, which results in foil as thin as .005" thick, will also have applications in spaceships, military, armor, and consumer electronics.
